Meet Ivy, our mentor at Kaganda secondary school.
Every week, Ivy goes to meet the scholars in the rural part of Murang’a. Access to the school has no proper means of transport, but for the love of the girls, she takes a motorbike to the school, even on rainy days. The scholars cannot have miss the session. They look forward to that special day in their lives when she visits them.👇
In her own words, Ivy says:
I, Ivy Nyambura, a mentor of the Binti Shupavu program implemented through CWE-TECH and Daring Girls (formerly Africaid), take pride in the success of Binti Shupavu programme that creates a nurturing environment for personal leadership and essential life skills among young teenage scholars. As a mentors, I secretly cherish the smiles of the girls during my sessions with them, the way they are eager to attend the mentorship programme with a warm welcome. The smiles alone speak volumes. The teachers, with their warm welcomes, give positive feedback on how the scholars under the Binti Shupavu are excelling in discipline, performance, and confidence.
Through the personalized mentorship it is evident the scholars exhibit enhanced academic performance, heightened self-esteem, and a newfound sense of purpose, setting the foundation for their future success. This mentoring program has seen me as a mentor commit to shaping resilient and empowered young women for a lasting positive impact on their lives.
