Skills Development & Hope Restoration Centre

Project Purpose

The main purpose of the project will be empower and restore the hope of needy, vulnerable and single women and youth, economically and psychosocially through provision of vocational skills for self-fulfillment and a long term sustainable development.
The Centre will provide professional training to them for free to restore their hope and thus rebuild their faith. Beneficiaries will be trained in Fashion and design and garment making, hairdressing and beauty therapy, food production and digital literacy including online job opportunities, website development and management, social media marketing, and general e-commerce, and in a wholesome way focusing on their spiritual growth. At their graduation,
beneficiaries will be given a start-up kit each comprising light and basic machines and essential materials as initial capital to enable them start a business.

Description of the project

The centre will offer 3 different vocational courses:

1) Fashion design and garment making

2)Hairdressing and Beauty therapy

3) Digital literacy. The project will take in 20 learners per cohort for each of the four courses. This will make a total of 60 learners in a semester. Qualified
personnel will then be engaged to impart knowledge and experience to the learners. Besides the vocational skills, learners will participate in community outreach programmes.

Aims and Objectives of the Centre

The mission of the centre will be to empower and restore the hope of needy, vulnerable and
single women, economically, spiritually and psychosocially through provision of vocational
skills, spiritual guidance for self-fulfilment and a long term sustainable development.
The objectives of the project will be to:
i. Train and equip young women in vocational skills, that is, fashion design and garment making, hairdressing and beauty therapy, food production and digital literacy for self-reliance.
ii. Provide learners especially teenage and single mothers with spiritual, psychological and psycho-social support.
iii). Provide learners with start-up capital in kind to establish sustainable income generating opportunities.
iv) Mentor the beneficiaries in a wholesome manner by providing important life skills like social media marketing, general e-commerce, communication, leadership, coping with stress, general awareness among others.
